Is Medical tourism ok?

Medical tourism refers to people who travel from one country to another to be able to do medical treatment. This happens a lot in México, when people from the United States and other countries come to get medical treatments because in their country it is very expensive. In other times this would not attract any special attention at all, but during Covid times it does. Is it okay to travel to other places to get vaccinated?

This question arises because a very famous television host in Mexico (Juan José Origel) made it into the news this week for traveling to Miami to be vaccinated. Many people are upset with what he did. In a tweet he indicated that he went to get vaccinated and mentioned that he is saddened that his country could not provide the vaccine for him. Do you think this is wrong? Do you think it should be illegal to do medical tourism?

In my opinion, I think it could become a bit chaotic if everyone starts to travel to get vaccinated, at the same time not everyone has the money to do it, so I don’t think it is such a problem if people are willing to pay extra to save their lives. Also in this specific case the presenter is in the risk population of those older than 70 years, for which I believe that everyone has the right to do whatever they want with their money, but maybe they could put some kind of tax and with that money collected from the people who have the money to travel to be vaccinated, pay for the vaccination of the people who cannot.
