Biden justifies the military withdrawal from Afghanistan: “It is time to end the longest war” – Pledge Times

Joe Biden will not go down in history as the president who won the longest war in American history, but as the one who ended it 20 years later. The president announced this Wednesday the unconditional and complete withdrawal of the troops from Afghanistan in a bitter speech, in which he assumed that continuing there did not allow for a glimpse of «different results.»

Biden said, «It is time for the American troops to come home.» The decision shows the geopolitical turn of Biden, which prioritizes the internal challenges of the country and the external threats directly linked to them, which today are more embodied in China than in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

Biden also said «We cannot continue with the cycle of extending or expanding our military presence in Afghanistan in the hope of creating the ideal conditions for our withdrawal, expecting different results», this happened on a Wednesday from the Hall of Treaties, the same space since Bush announced in his day the beginning of the war.

Honestly, when I heard this news, I was very proud, the first thing I thought was that I wish I had such a president like that, a president who makes good decisions for the country and good initiatives.
