Amazing Series & Movies with Female Protagonists

It’s women’s month and we should totally be supporting our female actresses. So here is a few movies and series with amazing actresses. This list we’ll be separated in categories so you can pick your favorite genre to watch.

1.- Divergent (2014)

Our amazing actress Shailene Woodley plays a hardcore girl named Tris, she lives in a world where people are divided in categories called fractions that are abnegation, amity, erudite, dauntless (where she decides to go), and candor. She find out she is divergent meaning she fits into all of them but that is not a good thing.

2.- Nerve (2016)

There is a new game called Nerve, you get to decide i you want to watch or play. Vee a very quiet and shy girl, portrayed by the one and only Emma Roberts, decides to be a player. She is now facing some consequences after finding out what nerve really is.

3.- Secret Society of Second Born Royals (2020)

Second borns in royalty are forced to behave in certain ways with no say in anything. Peyton Elizabeth Lee plays a second born royal named Samantha, a girl who wants monarchy to see its end. When she is caught at a rally her mom sends her to camp but not any camp, she is send to a camp for second born who have special powers.

4.-Rogue One (2016)

In a far far away galaxy a group of rebels find out that The Empire is going to build a space station capable of destroying planets, known as the Death Star. So they decide to sabotage the mission, we have Jyn Erso as a rebel fighting for what’s right, she is portrayed by Felicity Jones, an amazing talented actress.

5.-Ava (2020)

In this Film we have the amazing actress Jessica Chastain, who plays Ava an elite assassin who works for the Black Ops. Then one of her mission goes wrong, she is then having to fight for survival by herself.

1.- Mulan (1998)

In this classical 1998 film we have the story of Mulan, who is voiced by Ming‑Na Wen. It is set in China, where women weren’t allowed to fight in the war, she then had to sneak as a boy to save her dad and save china. It is truly inspiring for women and makes women feel equally strong as men.

2.- Back of the Net (2019)

A very smart girl who wanted to go to a Marine and biology camp ends up in a soccer summer camp, now Cory, who us played by Sofia Wylie, needs to adapt and overcome this new reality.

3.- Carmen Sandiego (2019)

This is a new interactive series on netflix where we have a spy named Carmen Sandiego who is voiced by our amazing Gina Rodriguez. It shows a female spy having many adventures and being able to solve them with the help of the audience.

4.- Girl Meets World (2014)

This disney Series is about Riley Mathews a teenager who has to live through middle school and high school drama, but she has the help of her friends. Riley is interpreted by our lovely disney feminist Rowan Blanchard.

5.- K.C Undercover (2015)

K.C. Cooper, who is played by my on of my favorite actresses: Zendaya, is a high school math whiz and black belt in karate, trains to be an undercover spy. She goes into many adventures as a spy and as a friend.

1.- Moxie (2021)

Josephine Langford plays Emma Johnson, a girl who decides to take in the steps of her mom and try to stick up against the patriarchy and make girl stand up for themselves.

2.- I Feel Pretty (2018)

Renee, played by Amy Schumer, was an ordinary woman full of insecurities. After she hit her head, she wakes up and she is convinced she is the most beautiful woman in the world. Now that her self-esteem is sky high, she feels she can achieve anything she sets her mind to.

3.- I, Tonya (2017)

This film is about the ice skater Tonya Harding , played by our fabulous Margot Robbie. After overcoming a tough childhood and, when she was at her peak, her husband and two criminals tried to cripple her greatest rival in the 1994 Olympics, her U.S. teammate Nancy Kerrigan.

4.- She’s the Man (2006)

Viola Johnson, interpreted by Amanda Bynes, impersonates her twin brother Sebastian, replaces him at the boarding school, so she can play soccer with the boys team, she is one of the best players of the men’s team.

5.- Inside-Out (2015)

Riley is a very active kid who is forced to move into this new town, and she is then suffering to fit in and to adapt he mind, her emption go out of control. Riley is voiced by Kaitlyn Dias and Joy is voiced by Amy Poehler.

Adelaide, played by Lupita Nyong’o, and her husband travel to the house where she grew up by the beach. She has an ominous premonition that precedes a creepy encounter: four masked men appear in front of her house. The frightening part comes when they show their faces.

2.- Ready or not (2019)

On the night of her wedding, Grace, played by Samara Weaving, receives an invitation from her husband’s wealthy and eccentric family to participate in an ancient tradition that turns into a lethal game of survival.

3.- A quiet place (2018)

Some type of monster that has very sensitive hearing has taken over the earth. Evelyn, who is interpreted by Emily Blunt, and her family seak for survival in very smart strategic moves, Evelyn is apparently pregnant and she is having a little trouble keeping quiet.

4.- You’re Next (2011)

The Davison family is attacked by a group of sadistic killers during a family getaway. The masked killers did not count on the presence of Erin, played by Sharni Vinson, the girlfriend of the Davison’s eldest son, whose mysterious past has made her strong and very difficult to kill.

5.- The Invisible Man (2020)

A mad scientist fakes his suicide and then uses his invisibility to terrorize his ex-partner Cecilia, played by Elisabeth Moss, who decides to confront the invisible man herself after the police don’t believe her story.

1.- Wonder Woman (2017)

Wonder Woman is played by Gal Gadot, is a super heroine who wants to save the world. She is trying to stop the Great War after a pilot told her about how dangerous the world really is, and she finds out how powerful one can be.

2.- WandaVision (2021)

Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, has suffered a lot throughout her life, she was experimented on and she is a very powerful witch who recently lost everything. She then in a sitcom world.

3.- Captain Marvel (2019)

An alien warrior from the Kree civilization finds herself caught in the middle of a battle, she does not remember her past but she calls herself Vers, played by our lovely Brie Larson. With the help of Nick Fury, she tries to uncover the secrets of her past while harnessing her powers to end the war.

4.- Birds of Prey (2020)

After Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, breaks up with her ex AKA the Joker, she finds herself having a few problems with people who never really liked her and she gets some friends who will all defeat the bad guy together.

5.- Elektra (2005)

An assassin, played by Jennifer Garner, has been hired to kill a man and his daughter, but she decides to protect them while she fights her adversaries.

It was very hard finding female superheroes with their own movie, and I couldn’t find a female superhero with her own movie who wasn’t lighted skinned. Please support actresses and please support darked skinned actresses, they are amazing! So next time you watch a fil try to watch one with female protagonist and/or has dark skin!
