We are only a few days away from one of the most famous awards for the music industry, and we could not be more excited. Who will win more prizes and how will they attend the ceremony. But not everything has been butter over bread, as revealing stories come to light telling us the reality behind an industry that claims to be open to new ideas and caring for its members.
One big debate surged, after «The Weeknd» posted on social media the following:

Sore loser?, I’m not sure. But I’ll let you get to your conclusions. In the tweet, The Weeknd refers to the lack of transparency given during the nomination process, which involves anonymous voters choosing nominees. The organizers of course didn’t stay quiet and sent a public letter that reads the next.
“We understand that The Weeknd is disappointed at not being nominated/ I was surprised and can empathize with what he’s feeling. His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and broader world are worthy of everyone’s admiration. We were thrilled when we found out he would be performing at the upcoming Super Bowl and we would have loved to have him also perform on the Grammy stage the weekend before. Unfortunately, every year, there are fewer nominations than the number of deserving artists. But as the only peer-voted music award, we will continue to recognize and celebrate excellence in music while shining a light on the many amazing artists that make up our global community. To be clear, voting in all categories ended well before The Weeknd’s performance at the Super Bowl was announced, so in no way could it have affected the nomination process.”

Another intense and arguably justifiable argument against the Grammys is genres, members of the voting committee are charged with a genre and they must choose nominees for that genre. They might not have known how to describe The Weeknd’s music and left him in the air, (The same happened with Justin Bieber, who was nominated for pop music but he feels his albums is more R&B)
Other examples of this are Nicki Minaj, who posted this.

Nevertheless, please remember this is just business, they are not necessarily looking for the fans’ nor artists’ best interest and might only be doing music because of money. Never forget this.
