FC Barcelona coach gets suspended

The coach was sent off for protesting to the fourth official. Koeman says he did not say anything disrespectful and does not give up La Liga.

Roland Koeman defended himself at a press conference after being sent off at FC Barcelona-Granada. The Dutch coach received a direct punishment, without prior warning, and had to watch from the stands more than 20 final minutes of the match. The Barça coach stressed after the match that he did not disrespect the fourth official and that he hopes they will explain why he was expelled like that . According to him, he just called him » a character.

The Barcelona coach also revealed that he had a talk right after the meeting with several players. In that conversation, he noted the disappointment of the squad for having missed a good opportunity against Granada to take the lead and depend on themselves to win the La Liga title. He remarked that: «We have not lost La Liga. We are disappointed, it is a very hard hit because we depended on ourselves. We have to prepare well for Sunday’s game and see what we have done wrong today. For me, Sunday is going to be crucial for the end of the season.»

«I have not been wrong, because according to the referee’s act, I have disrespected the fourth official and for me it is not like that. A lack of respect is insulting. We have commented on several plays that happened during the match, in a respectful way towards him, the fourth official. I want to know if it is disrespectful, I want to know what words I have used, I have not used ugly words, not once.
